I wanted to see how far up the Haycock Creek tributary I could go. For part of the journey, I followed a fellow paddler who seemed to be more familiar with this part of the lake.

You've seen this house before.

New this time was the presence of a swan.

The lily pads were still a major obstacle, but a few paths
had been cut through them.

This gent seemed to know the territory pretty well.
I followed his lead, but he wasn't much in the mood
for company.

Haycock Creek offers a nice, scenic avenue with abundant wildlife.

All the same, we ran out of water pretty quickly.
With only tiny amounts of rain for the last few months,
all the creeks and rivers are running low.

The wildflowers and critters were vibrant, though.

Heading back down toward the lake.
