Fixing a Problem.
My plans for a full day of boating on Saturday (and maybe
a full weekend of boating here and there) were ruined when
I woke up with a sore throat. Both Saturday and Sunday - some
of the most spectacular weather all year - were pretty much lost
in a bleary misery of congestion and Kleenex.
I was determined, however, to at least
try the Tsunami.
I made my way back to the Haycock boat ramp at Nockamixon by
2:00 on Monday - Labor Day. Although I still felt weak and
the cold was moving from my head to my chest, I decided to
gain whatever benefit I could from the sunshine and the
warm late-summer water.
I noticed a kindly-looking gentleman hanging out and enjoying
the activity. I asked him to take some pictures with my camera
while I took the boat out and back. He was glad to do it and
was even waiting for me - with the camera - when I returned
to shore. I didn't get his name, so the following photos
are uncredited.
I retrieved the camera and took the remaining pictures
on this page. As you can see, it was quite a busy day.
"Last day of the season," I guess.
So. Did my footbrace fix make all the difference?
Is my new Tsunami now the cat's meow?
I wish I could say 'Yes.'
But there now appears to be another problem. One potentially
much worse. I will be taking it on a trip to the Pine Barrens
with the Philadelphia Canoe Club in two weeks. This test,
on moving water and with the informed consultation of
both veteran boaters and the worthy specialists at Bel Haven
will finally tell all.
